The voice.The artist.

Raúl Alcocer is a Mexican tenor. His work spans opera, symphonic and choral projects, art song, and Mexican and Latin American repertoire.

He has performed at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Sala Nezahualcóyotl, Auditorio Nacional and Castillo de Chapultepec. His experience includes projects with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, Orquesta Filarmónica de la Ciudad de México, Orquesta Filarmónica de las Artes and Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata.

He holds the LRSM in Singing from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Alongside performance, he works in composition, vocal pedagogy and projects dedicated to Mexican opera.

International profile / Languages

An international perspective

His international experience began with the Colegio Alemán children’s choir in Germany, including Expo Hannover 2000. With Staccato, he performed in Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, including America Cantat 6. Tours of Mexican music also took him to Ecuador in 2019 and 2022.

Beyond performance

A wider musical practice, rooted in the voice.

Composition

Trained at the Núcleo Integral de Composición (NICO), he has written music for film, theatre, dance and concert settings. His opera project Voz del Más Allá includes an aria premiered at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

Mexican opera

Founder and former director of the Festival Internacional de Ópera Mexicana, he has developed projects that bring Mexican opera to new audiences and place it within a wider international repertoire.

Vocal pedagogy

His teaching connects vocal technique, text, musicality and stage presence. This work informs an artistic practice centred on the singer as a complete musician and interpreter.
